Forage Journal is provided under Apple's standard licence agreement, with the additions below. Forage Journal Pro renews automatically until you cancel it in your Apple ID settings. Bee notes are written by AI and plant identifications are suggestions: both can be wrong, so check anything important yourself.
Forage Journal is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the Standard EULA). These Terms of Use add to it for Forage Journal and Forage Journal Pro; where they differ, the Standard EULA applies. By using the app you agree to both. Forage Journal is made by Dunn Hunny.
Forage Journal Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, offered monthly or yearly at the prices shown in the app before you buy. Apple processes every purchase.
What's included on the free plan and with Pro, including the number of plants and monthly photo identifications, is described in the app and on our support page. We may change those limits or the features of Pro in future; a change never takes away plants or records you already have.
The bee notes for each plant — nectar and pollen value, pollen color, honey flow potential, honey character, bloom window and toxicity to honey bees — are written by an AI model from general knowledge about the species. They can be incomplete, out of date, wrong, or not true of your region, and they are not professional, veterinary or agricultural advice. Check anything important, especially toxicity to honey bees or anything you'll act on for your colonies, against trusted sources and your own observation. You can correct any bee note in the app, and your edits are always kept.
Photo identification is provided by Pl@ntNet. Its suggestions are estimates with a confidence score, not a guarantee: a plant can be misidentified, especially from an unclear photo or when only part of the plant is visible. Always confirm a plant's identity before relying on it, and never use the app to decide whether a plant is safe to eat or handle. The forage conditions gauge and the honey flow estimates are estimates built from what you log; they are not a forecast of any honey crop.
Reference photos come from Wikimedia Commons under their authors' free licences and are credited in the app under Settings › Photo credits. Plant names come from Pl@ntNet and GBIF. These belong to their authors and providers, not to us.
Your journal is stored on your device, as described in our privacy policy. You are responsible for keeping backups: deleting the app, or losing or resetting your phone, removes everything not in a backup you've exported.
Please don't misuse the app or the services behind it: don't try to get around its limits, send automated or bulk requests, or interfere with how it works. We may limit access for anyone who does. The identification, bee notes, name and photo services the app relies on are provided by others and may occasionally be unavailable or change.
To the extent the law allows, the app and everything in it, including bee notes, identifications and estimates, are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for losses arising from relying on them. Nothing here limits rights you have under the law that can't be limited.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
We will update this page and the date at the top when anything here changes.
